Many factors have to be considered when you are looking to install CCTV, be it a single camera, or multi camera system. Take a few minutes to review your objectives. Your present, and future requirements. Following are a few of the things you should consider when looking at CCTV.
- LIGHTING this is the single most important item ( unless you go with inferred ), when considering CCTV.
- BLACK & WHITE or COLOUR both have there place, lighting however plays a big part in this choice.
- MONITOR a colour monitor will show either B/W or colour, a B/W will not show colours.
- RECORDER there are many choices available be they real time, or lapse time, or a combination.
- VIDEO MOTION
- FIXED CAMERA
- PAN TILT
- PAN TILT ZOOM
- FIXED or AUTO IRIS

MULTIPLE CAMERA SYSTEMS in addition to the above you should consider the following.
- MONITOR(S) you have to decide whether you wish to go with individual monitors, or split image. Black and White or colour. Most common sizes are 9",13" 17" smaller and larger monitors are available.
- SEQUENCER this unit will allow you to view your cameras on full screen, one after the other, or on split screen. When recording only the image you see on the screen is what is recorded.
- MULTIPLEXER this will function in the same manner as the sequencer. The big difference however is in the recording. When recording all cameras will record regardless of what is showing on the monitor. On play-back you can call-up and view, full screen a specific camera.
